Though it's not a "hammerhead" design, this bow is grouped with the transition bows as it's of an era gone by - clearly made to be played on large basses with gut strings. The same length as an average modern German bow (29 3/4"). Both the ferrule and tip mortise are narrower than average, so it takes a narrower ribbon of hair. Larger stick, very nicely flamed pernambuco. Extremely powerful. Well-balanced, so it's not cumbersome for its weight. Very good condition - no evidence of cracks or problems. Offered at a very nice price for the quality of wood! 155 grams.
