I'm writing a review of a folder May 15, 2017
Reviewer: Michael A. from my sofa
The fact is, I was up very, very late as my band had an out of town gig last night, so I've declared today is my day off, I'm starting happy hour early, and I truly do not care.  I'm in a perfect space to write a review of a music folder.  I placed an order with Quantum Bass Center a few weeks ago, and they were offering a FREE! music folder with my order, so I said heck yeah.  A few days later, I received an email asking if I cared to post a review of any of the items I got.  Well, I'm sorry to say, the time was just not right.  I had a lot on my plate.  No matter how much I really did care about writing a review of my shiny new music folder, I was simply not in a space to find the right words - not while my entire life was abstracted by my obligation to play sixteen choruses of "Mustang Sally" for drunk cowboys and then drive for five hours in a sixteen-year-old Ford van with four forty-something men who deny their obvious flatulence (I forgive them - Waffle House after midnight is very griping to the bowels) - but shortly after 1 pm today, when I became conscious and was cripping through the living room, where my still-new music folder was waiting patiently on the coffee table, it came to me that today, this very day, the time is right.  The time is now.  Folder, reviewed you shall be.  This music folder is like no other I have ever seen.  Significantly, it doesn't have trippy graphics of saxophones and silhouettes of violins, like the Yamaha folders we were once assigned in school.  Those days are past; that ship has sailed...enter the era of the truly badass music folder that expresses the badassery of the grownup, working musician.  This music folder features a mind-blowing graphic of a skull superimposed over smoke superimposed over a bass bridge, on a stark, bleak, black background.  These people at Quantum Bass Center are deep thinkers - the "Smell the Glove" reference is obvious to those in the know, but expressed subtly.  Not overbearing, and they have added just enough of a twist that it doesn't plagiarize "Smell the Glove" - just pays homage.  As well it should.  Furthermore, we are left to ponder whether "Bassus Irae" is word salad or the voice of this generation.  All that is just the front cover.  On to the form and function of this magnificent folder.  I heaved myself up off the sofa and got a tape measure - to discover, to my wonderment, that this folder folds EXACTLY in the middle.  Perfectionists, these Quantum Bass Center folks.  You get two, count 'em, TWO music pockets in this music folder, one on each side.  The symmetry is very satisfying.  Furthermore, not only is the cover somewhat water-resistant, affording a modicum of protection to your sheet music (as long as it's letter-sized and fits in the folder), but the back cover features contact information for Quantum Bass Center, so you can call them up and thank them for this provocative expression of your true, inner smoking skull bridge.
